Tugujatim.id – Mount Rinjani is a big volcano on Lombok Island, Indonesia, the second tallest in the country at 3,726 meters (12,224 feet). It’s part of the Rinjani Volcanic Complex, formed by Earth’s movements. Since 1847, it has erupted eight times, mostly within the Segara Anak calderas.

The mountain and its surroundings form the Mount Rinjani National Park, covering 41,000 hectares inside its boundaries and 66,000 hectares of protected forest nearby. In 2008, Indonesia suggested it become a UNESCO-recognized geopark, which would be Indonesia’s first geological park.
