MALANG – Mount Bromo tourism in Malang Regency will be finally reopened in August 2020. However, the exact of reopening date has not been decided yet by John Kenedie as the agency’s head of Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru (TNBTS).
“We’re still discussing the date with the four regional heads and there will be a simulation for one month to ensure that the place is safe for the visitors,” Kenedie said in a statement when met at his office on Wednesday (1/7/2020).
The four regional heads involved in this planning are the regional heads of Malang, Lumajang, Pasuruan, and Probolinggo. Together with the TNBTS, they have discussed the plan of reopening Mount Bromo Tourism through the online meeting.
“We have agreed on the decision that for now only 10-30 percent of visitors are allowed to visit the Mount Bromo based on the carrying capacity of Mount Bromo tourism,” he said.
In consideration with that, the discussion has then led to a decision that at the beginning of the reopening, only 20 percent of visitors can enter the Mount Bromo area.
“It’s about 739 tourists per day,” he said.
On the same hand, the number of tourists who are allowed to enjoy the sunrise in Penanjakan is also limited only to 100 visitors in a day.
Furthermore, John mentioned that firstly each tourist must do the online reservation. “The process must be done through the online reservation,”
Lastly, John said if the decision was taken with deep consideration and calculation for the safety of the visitors.
